Unable to Login to ScaleArc through SSH

Overview

This article provides the solution when the following error is encountered while attempting to connect/login to the ScaleArc appliance or VM through SSH:

ssh idb@10.177.137.151
###############################################################################
idb@10.177.137.151's password:
Last login: Wed Nov 27 13:58:39 2019 from 10.16.229.2
/bin/bash: No such file or directory
Connection to 10.177.137.151 closed.

The below error messages observed when the appliance is attempting to reboot suggest filesystem corruption as the root cause for the login issue hence the /bin/bash executable not present error.

Solution

The recommended solution when the filesystem corruption issue is encountered is to reboot the ScaleArc server, enabling ScaleArc to perform the filesystem check and any necessary repairs automatically.

Once the filesystem repair is complete, reboot the appliance once more to bring the system back online with a clean filesystem.

Note: The above actions will usually be sufficient to correct filesystem corruption issues. However, if any unexpected filesystem inconsistency is encountered, it will be necessary to run the filesystem check command (fsck) manually which requires root permissions to the appliance. Submit a support ticket with ScaleArc Customer Support for further assistance in manually executing the filesystem check.

Testing

Successful filesystem repair should result in a clean reboot and no errors when establishing an SSH session to the appliance.
